What is VAT Exemption?
If you are disabled or have a long-term medical condition you may qualify for VAT exemption on certain goods and services such as:
• Wheelchairs
• Stairlifts
• Mobility Scooters
• Specialist Footwear
• Wheelchair Hire
• Hearing and Vision Aids
• Home Adaptations
Am I eligible?
You will qualify for VAT exemption if:
• you have a physical or mental impairment that affects your ability to carry out everyday activities, eg blindness
• you have a condition that’s treated as chronic sickness, like diabetes
• you’re terminally ill
Please note: A frail, elderly person who is otherwise able-bodied or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb, does not qualify for VAT relief.
How do I claim?
To receive VAT exemption on eligible goods simply fill in the declaration form during checkout. If you are purchasing a qualifying item for someone else, you can complete the form on their behalf, stating their details and eligibility.
